Juggler of words and children…collector of pottery shards

Pride>Character

This morning, I was in a difficult set during my swim. I started out strong, but as the laps piled up I began to get tired. Soon, my arms were heavy. I was taking on water and gasping for breath.

“I am going to need to take an extra 30 seconds rest,” I told myself.

No sooner as it was over, I thought, “Would I have taken the extra rest if I was still swimming with my team?”

No. Absolutely not.pool fail

I could be inspirational and go on and on about how encouraging it is to be part of a team, but here is the truth-

I wouldn’t have taken the extra rest because I am too prideful.

Oh, how I long for the day when I am as motivated by the strength of my character as I am by pride.

And that, my friends, may be something I am working on until Jesus comes back.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” Colossians 3:12
